The video on the left features Bartabas from Theatre Zingaro which is curently housed in the stables of the Palace of Versailles. Look out for his productions, they are breathtaking. I was fortunate to be taken to see him and one of his horses perform at the Avignon festival several years ago. His spectacle, 'Lever de Soleil', took place in an old amphitheatre up in the hills. It was my birthday suprise and I was taken by car starting out at 3am. I had no idea what we were going to see. We sat down in the dark and the first clue I had of what was about to unfold was the noise of a horse's bit gentle clinking and then a shape began to emerge and move in the darkness....as the sun came up, Bartabas began to weave his magic.

The video on the left comes from Bartabas' film 'Mazeppa'. This clip shows him taking one hour to canter his superbly collected horse across a courtyard. When he eventually reaches the far side, he canters backwards to the spot from which he started.
